Hackettstown Hospital Renamed, Officially Joins Atlantic Health System

Healthcare network makes acquisition official April 1.

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – It’s official, Hackettstown Regional Medical Center is now Hackettstown Medical Center and part of the Atlantic Health System network of healthcare facilities more than two years after sides agreed on a strategic partnership.

April 1 marked the official acquisition day by AHS. Hackettstown Medical Center was formerly owned by Adventist HealthCare and was that system’s only New Jersey facility.

“It is with great honor that we welcome Hackettstown Medical Center into our organization,” said Atlantic Health System president and CEO Brian Gragnolati in a statement. “This collaboration strengthens our ability to deliver a Trusted Network of CaringTM, providing the full breadth of our services to promote the health and well-being of Hackettstown and its surrounding communities.”

Hackettstown is an acute care facility with 111-beds, maternity ward, and emergency room.

Benefits of the acquisition, according to AHS, include:

  • Expanded outpatient and preventive medicine services available within the region
  • Broader patient access to pediatric and other specialty care; clinical trials; and advanced protocols for emergent care, including complex stroke care, the latest cardiac diagnostic and treatment interventions, and advanced neonatal care
  • Strengthening of the primary care network, making it easier for the hospitals to cope with increased demand for services that health care reform is expected to generate
  • Expanded evidence-based quality measurement and improvement
  • Improved quality and increased cost savings through shared services and more efficient use of resources.
  • Expanded access to a regional health information network
  • April 1 also marks the five-year anniversary of AHS acquiring Newton Medical Center.

“In Atlantic Health System, we have found a local organization that shares many of the values we hold important,” said Jason Coe, President, Hackettstown Medical Center in a statement. “Becoming part of Atlantic Health System’s Trusted Network of Caring ensures that Hackettstown Medical Center will continue to be an intrinsic provider of health care for patients in this region.”

Atlantic Health System is the parent company for Newton, Hackettstown, Morristown, Chilton, and Overlook Medical Centers in Northern New Jersey.
