Hackettstown Woman, Artist, 'Friend to All' Dies at 103
Flora Metz taught French to others until final year of life, quilted clothing for babies and soldiers.

Flora Metz was a schoolgirl when World War I ended and lived long enough to see everything from horse-drawn buggies to iPads.
The Hackettstown resident who lived locally for most of her life died at the House of the Good Shepherd recently at the incredible age of 103, according to her obituary.
Metz’s native tongue was French, and she spoke it and taught it to those who near up until the last year of her century-long life. She was an accomplished artist, always enjoying the beauty around her with works displayed by the Rockport Artist Society.
