Injured Bear Rescued By Police In North Jersey

Police are warning residents to be aware of bears this week, which is the start of the shotgun hunting season.

BLAIRSTOWN, NJ — An injured bear was rescued by police on Tuesday after being hit by a car in Blairstown.

Blairstown police, Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary and the Division of Fish and Wildlife all responded to the call of a young bear hit by a car. The two animal groups were able to tranquilize the bear, and he was taken to Division of Fish and Wildlife for more help.

This week is the start of the shotgun hunting season, and police are warning residents to be aware of bears, who may be more active than usual.
