Intoxicated Youths Drive Into School Official In Hackettstown, Police Say
Three young adults were found partying in a school parking lot by Hackettstown Police on Monday afternoon.

Hackettstown Police responded to a report of a suspicious person and arrived at the scene just in time to spot the alleged suspicious persons drive forward, knocking a school official onto the hood of their car, on Monday afternoon.
According to Hackettstown Police, school authorities at Hackettstown High on Warren Street reported the presence of suspicious individuals in the school parking lot. When the officers arrived after school had let out, at approximately 3:29 PM, a school official was standing in front of the suspect's car. The driver in the car, according to the officer on scene, drove forward, and knocked the school official onto the hood of the car.
The distinct scent of alcohol and marijuana emanated from the vehicle, according to police reports. The four individuals in the vehicle, an 18-year-old driver from Paterson, a 19- and 22-year-old, also from Paterson, and a third passenger, a 19-year-old from Clifton, had all been en route to the town pool when they discovered that it was closed; they opted, according to police reports, to have fun in the parking lot of the school instead.

The officer found that the individuals had in their car a bag of marijuana, hashish, and other small baggies with unknown substances. They also had a bottle of vodka and cups at the ready with the film of alcohol coating the sides. The driver was charged with DWI in a school zone, operating a motor vehicle who has consumed alcohol under the age of 21, possession of alcohol on school property, disorderly conduct, and
simple assault. The 22-year-old was charged with possession of more than 5 grams of hashish and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. The other two passengers, both under the legal drinking age, were charged with possession of alcohol on school property and disorderly conduct. All four were released pending a court appearance.
