Longtime Hackettstown Resident Passes Away

Theresa Amantea, 100, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Heath Village, NJ. Theresa was born on August 9, 1917 in Puccianiello, Italy. She grew up in Paterson and previously lived in Boonton, NJ.

Theresa was an avid Bingo and Pokino player. She enjoyed reading, cooking and crochet. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and having them around her.

Theresa is survived by her daughter, Maria DeGrande and husband John, her sons, John Amantea and Dennis Amantea, her grandchildren, Christina Dob and husband Michael, Jennifer DeGrande and husband Kevin Schild, Tony Amantea and wife Roe, Lisa Grajales and husband Carlos, Lynn Amantea, Cathleen Calabro and husband Dennis, Scott Amantea, and Dennis Amantea, her brother, Dennis, her great grandchildren, Michael Maclachlan, Richie Maclachlan, Tyler Amantea, Stefanie Rodriguez, Jennifer Grajales, Michael Barringer, her great great grandchildren, Mason and Symphony Rodriguez, and many loving nephews and nieces who live throughout the country. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Antonio.

A Celebration of Theresa’s Life will include a visitation on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2pm to 6pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. An 11am funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 22 at St. Mark’s Church in Long Valley, NJ. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson.
