How do you know the star local student?

My son

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

My son John did his Eagle Scout project for the Hackettstown American Legion Post 164 and the Union Cemetery Association. John’s project was to dismantle and rebuild a 20x20 pergola at our local cemetery that is used by year-round by our local community and by the American Legion on Memorial Day weekend for a special ceremony honoring our veterans. This project took over 200 hours of volunteer time as well as a year between planning and completing this project. John acted as the project manager and had over 50 volunteers in all who worked under his leadership and direction. He had to plan out and budget the project, arrange for volunteers and registered Scout leaders for each of his workday, speak with, order and secure materials for the project and fill out an immense amount of paperwork to apply for his Eagle Scout rank.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

John the youngest of four children and he loves his town, his state and is proud of where he comes from. It was important for him to do his Eagle Scout project in his hometown because he wanted something that would benefit his entire community for years to come. John has a great personality and sense of humor. He is just a good kid who has a deep faith in God.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, John!
