Memorial Day Parade to Make Its Way Through Hackettstown Monday

Parking will be limited in area of annual parade route.

Main Street will be filled with parade spectators as local groups march their way through Hackettstown on Monday for the annual Memorial Day Parade.

The event will kick off around 10 a.m.

The parade, which will honor many local veterans, is hosted by the American Legion Post 164 and will begin near the post office on Washington Street. School bands (the Hackettstown High School and middle school band, Independence School Band, West Morris High School Band and senior and junior Colonial Musketeers) and civic organizations will then travel down Main Street and Grand Avenue, ending at the Union Cemetery on Mountain Avenue. Once at the ceremony, the American Legion will host a Memorial Day ceremony.

The Hackettstown Fire Department and Hackettstown First Aid Squad will also participate in the parade.

Hackettstown police have warned that Main Street, between Liberty Street and Warren Street, and Route 182, between Route 46 and Victoria Lane, will close around 9:30 a.m. Monday in preparation of the parade. Police officers will assist with directing traffic the day of the parade.

Additionally, parking will be prohibited on Main Street between Grand Avenue and Warren Street; Franklin Street between Route 604 and Liberty Street; Washington Street between Grand Avenue and Valentine Street; Valentine Street between Route 46 and Beatty Street; Washington Street between Warren Street and Bells Lane; Victoria Lane between Mountain Avenue and Mitchell Road; Bells Lane between Mountain Avenue and Washington Street; and the entire length of Mountain Avenue.
