More Than 200 Tickets Issued in Hackettstown 'Click It or Ticket' Campaign

Three felony and three drug arrests made, police say.

More than 100 seatbelt violations were issued to drivers in Hackettstown over the past two weeks during the town's annual "Click It or Ticket" campaign, according to Hackettstown Police Sgt. Darren Tynan.

A total of 105 tickets were issued to drivers, front passengers and backseat passengers who were found to not be wearing seatbelts, Tynan said. More than 100 tickets were issued for moving or non-moving violations.

Three felony arrests were also made in addition to three drug arrests and one DWI. Three drivers with suspended licenses were ticketed and two uninsured drivers were issued violations, according to Tynan. Ten warrant arrests were made and one ticket was issued for reckless driving.

Additionally, four speeding tickets were issued, as well as two child restraint tickets.

The campaign began in Hackettstown on May 20 and lasted through June 2. The focus of this year's campaign was to increase rear seat passenger seatbelt use, as well as the front seat seatbelt rate, which was below 90 percent after last year. Adult back seatbelt use is only at about 36 percent in the state.
