Police Log: Drugs And Public Urination Among Recent Complaints In Hackettstown

Hackettstown Police find drugs on a few drivers during recent motor vehicle stops:

Sept. 9

At approximately 2:25 AM in the wee hours of Friday morning, a Hackettstown Police officer stopped a car on Route 46 for a moving violation. After talking to the 26-year-old driver and discovered she was from Mansfield Township, among other details, the officer detected the presence of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was consequently charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. She was released pending a court appearance.

At approximately 2:31 PM on the same day, an officer stopped a car on Grand Ave for a moving violation. The officer spoke to the driver, a 30-year-old from Flemington, NJ, and found that the driver had in his possession 14 wax folds containing suspected heroin, 4 wax folds containing suspected heroin residue, and 5 hypodermic syringes. The driver was charged with possession of heroin, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, failure to change address, failure to inspect, and operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone. That individual was released pending a court appearance.

Then, at about 9:16 PM on that same Friday, a Hackettstown Police officer observed a 45-year-old from Garriques of Independence Twp, NJ walking in the parking lot of 80 Main Street. The officer knew that this individual was a wanted person, with an outstanding warrant from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office for non-payment of child support in the amount of $4,205.00. The officer also found that this individual had in his possession four wax folds containing suspected heroin. Additionally, that individual also had an $89.00 Hackettstown municipal court traffic warrant and a $500.00 Hackettstown municipal court criminal warrant. The Garriques of Independence Township man was consequently charged with possession of heroin (3 rd degree) and was released pending a court appearance. He was then turned over to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.

Sept. 11

At approximately 2 AM on Sunday, September 11, a Hackettstown Police officer was on routine patrol when the officer saw a guy walk up to some bushes on Grand Avenue. The officer observed the guy commence urinating on those bushses. The fellow, a 39-year-old from Independence Township, was charged with disorderly conduct and was released pending a court appearance.

At approximately 9:15 PM a Hackettstown Police officer stopped a car on Route 57. The officer found that the 57-year-old driver from Stanhope had in his possession a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and a package of rolling papers. The fellow was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana,
possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintenance of lamps. Joseph was released pending a court appearance.
