Good Weather and Restaurant Deals on Tap in Ocean City This Weekend

If you're thinking of heading down to Ocean City this weekend, it looks as if the weather should be sunny (as long as we dodge a line of thunderstorms possible for Friday afternoon).

The ocean temperature has been relatively warm all week and is hanging in there at 69 degrees on Friday morning. But west winds are in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday. The includes two-for-one specials from special menus as part of Ocean City Restaurant Week, the opening of the Ocean City Pops season on Sunday and a free rock festival on the Music Pier on Friday night. Look for a week's worth of wacky contests (french fry sculpting and extreme hermit-crab wrestling among them) starting 11 a.m. Monday at the Ocean City Music Pier and continuing every day at the same time and place.

And if you've read that the sun is not the only thing shining in Ocean City these days, you may want to know that City Council on Thursday night passed a ban on selling and possessing laser pointers. 

The devices are supposed to be used in office presentations or in astronomy studies, but in Ocean City, they've become a dangerous nuisance to airline pilots, motorists, pedestrians and even people on Boardwalk rides.
