Thief Enters Occupied Haddonfield Home, Steals Car: Police

The homeowners were present, but they didn't interact with the suspect, police said.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — An unknown suspect entered an occupied Haddonfield home, stole their car keys and left with their vehicle on Friday, police said.

The suspect got into an unlocked vehicle and then entered the victims' home during the evening hours Friday on West End Avenue, officials said. They took the keys from inside the kitchen and then left with the vehicle, according to police.

The homeowners were present, but they didn't interact with the suspect and they didn't notice the theft when it happened, police said.

In a statement issued around 8:45 p.m. Friday, police said the theft occurred "within the past few hours."

It's unclear whether the suspect used the garage-door opener or whether it was open when they arrived, police said.

Police reminded residents to lock their vehicles and remove keys and valuables.
