Fundraiser Launched For Family Of Hillsborough Man Found Dead In Missouri River
Beloved husband, father, and food scientist Akshay Arora, 47, of Hillsborough, was identified Tuesday as the body recovered from the river.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A fundraiser has been launched for the family of Akshay Arora, a beloved husband, father, and food scientist from Hillsborough Township, who went missing during a work trip in Sioux City, Iowa.
Arora's car was found submerged with no one inside on Aug. 6, the same day he was reported missing to police. Two days later, on Aug. 8, a man's body was found in the Missouri River.

His sudden death has left his wife, Anshu Gandotra, and their 14-year-old daughter, Mahi, grappling with unimaginable grief and unexpected financial hardship.
"Akshay's sudden passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son, and a true friend. As a food scientist, Akshay was truly passionate about his work, and this dedication was reflected in everything he did. He was an incredibly kind, gentle, and giving person whose smile and laugh could instantly fill a room with joy," according to the GoFundMe fundraising website.

The GoFundMe was launched to support the family, helping with immediate expenses, ongoing living costs, and ensuring Mahi's future needs are met.
"Akshay's love and positive impact will live on in our memories forever. We ask for your deepest prayers for him and his family and for your utmost kindness and generosity for Anshu and Mahi during this devastating time," according to the GoFundMe. "Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference and serve as a beacon of hope."
