Hillsborough High Girls Soccer Team Scores A Goal For Neighbors In Need
Hillsborough High School Girls Soccer Team manned a food drive on Sept. 6 for Feeding Hands Food Pantry.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough High School Girls Soccer Team squared up against Pingry for a tough game on Sept. 5. After leaving it all on the field, they woke up early to come and serve their neighbors in need from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Stationed at the Hillsborough ShopRite, the team rallied together and gathered more than 1,400 pounds of food and personal care items, and more than $600 in cash donations, to help support Feeding Hands Pantry.
That generous haul translates to nearly 1,000 meals for families in Hillsborough and throughout Somerset County who are facing food insecurity.

"It can feel small to give up one Saturday morning," said Roxanne Brazina, Volunteer Coordinator for Feeding Hands. "But in reality, that act of kindness is making a big difference. I want to challenge the Boys High School Soccer Team to try to beat the high mark set by the girls!"
Hillsborough High School Senior Jeeya Patel interned at Feeding Hands this past summer and was instrumental in bringing the soccer team to serve.

"Volunteering at Feeding Hands Pantry has been one of the most meaningful parts of my high school experience. It has given me the chance to connect with families in our community, understand the importance of compassion and dignity in service, and see firsthand how small acts can make a big difference. This work has taught me responsibility, gratitude, and the power of giving back," said Patel.
Feeding Hands Pantry relies on community volunteers and neighborhood groups to sustain its year-round mission to help families in need. The soccer team’s efforts this weekend are a shining example of Hillsborough’s neighborly care in action.
