Hillsborough Mom Celebrates Son Who Donated Organs, Tissue
A Hillsborough teenager who died tragically donated organs and tissue, saving lives of others.

A team participating in the NJ Sharing Network’s fifth annual 5K Celebration of Life will be honoring the memory of a Hillsborough teenager who died tragically, but donated organs and tissue, saving lives of others, according to published reports.
Beth Colon, mother of Jared Colon, who died in July 2014, will be the team captain, according to MyCentralJersey.com. Beth Colon said the event allows family and friends to honor the teen’s memory and serve as fuel for hope to those waiting for life-saving organ and tissue donations, the report said.

The family decided Jared’s organs and tissue should save lives. Beth Colon said Jared’s heart valves saved a life in New Jersey and one of his kidneys saved the life of a 37-year-old father of six, according to the report.
Beth Colon said she volunteers with the N.J. Sharing Network and it has helped her cope with the tragic loss of her son.

During the month of April, Beth Colon was recognized by Hillsborough Township Mayor Doug Tomson as township recognized April as National Donate Life Month.
The fifth annual Celebration of Life 5K will take place on Sunday, June 7, at the NJ Sharing Network Headquarters, 691 Central Ave. in new Providence.
