Hillsborough Teen Recognized For Hard Work

Scott Hvozdovic of Hillsborough was one of two Somerset County teens to receive the 2012 Camp Helping Hands Heroes Award.

Camp Helping Hands is a four-week summer camp designed for children with hemiplegia, a partial paralysis of one side of the body.

The Helping Hands Hero award recognizes children who have worked the hardest to achieve their goals over the years at the camp, and is given by Intensive Therapeutics, Inc.

An awards ceremony was held at the camp’s annual family barbecue at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.

State Senator Thomas H. Kean Jr. and Assemblyman Jon M. Bramnick were also on hand to honor Intensive Therapeutics, Inc.’s founder and executive director Scott Matthews with a proclamation.

Katie Higgins of Martinsville was the other award recipient. A second Intensive Therapeutics camp will begin in August–Camp Leaps and Bounds–focused on children with autism spectrum disorder.
