The many freeze/thaw cycles we've experienced this winter accelerate the decrease in the durability of the roads. When temperatures are above freezing, rainwater or snowmelt makes its way into small cracks in the pavement. As temperatures drop below freezing, the snowmelt freezes and expands, causing the crack to expand and grow as well. After the ice thaws, the water moves deeper into the newly expanded crack. The continuous freezing and expanding help to create new potholes. Now that the weather is getting warmer, Public Works is addressing potholes, as well as other minor road repairs and storm drain repairs.  I believe there is a presentation a bit later on the agenda to discuss our roads in more detail.

Also, registration for spring the clean-up/drop-off program is now open.  This is the perfect time to get rid of the unwanted items that may be cluttering your home or yard. Please visit the Public Works page for information on how to take part in these programs.
