Mallery's Brings Organic Foods to Duke Farms' Cafe
Local farm and restaurant takes over cafe at visitor's center.

Fans of organic foods can enjoy lunches at more places in Hillsborough now: Mallery's Eatery has taken over the cafe at Duke Farms.
"Today is our first day there," Leah, a Mallery's Eatery employee who declined to give her last name, said. "We're really looking forward to it—it's a great opportunity."
The cafe closed for three days for remodeling before opening with products prepared at the South Branch Road location of Mallery's, which features organic meats and produce from the Simply Grazin' farm, in Skillman.
Sarah Tremallo, of Evergreen Partners and a spokeswoman for Duke Farms, said the change is part of an ongoing process to find a new long-term vendor for the Farm Barn location.
"Basically, the prior cafe contract was up at the beginning of November and in keeping with Dukes Farms' mission of supporting organic food, we thought this was a good match," she said. "It seemed like a really good fit for this transition."
Tremallo added an ongoing request for proposals for the site is underway, and a determination of the long-term vendor will be made in February—which could include Mallery's, which has submitted a proposal.
The cafe is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily (except Wednesday), and offers breakfast sandwiches, salads, soups and hot and cold lunch sandwiches. You can enjoy breakfast for as little as $3.50 (for two organic eggs, with cheese, on a Brioche roll), or splurge on an all-organic $9 spinach salad.
"We're excited to see what people think," Tremallo said. "Everything is locally-sourced and organically produced."
The change adds a second Hillsborough location for Mallery's, which opened the South Branch Road location in March.
