Dawan Jeter, 19, Hillsborough, was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree endangering another person, announced Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

Authorities are investigating a double homicide and a police-involved shooting that occurred on Thursday.

At 4:12 p.m. that day, Hillsborough Township Police got a request to conduct a check on the people inside a home on Cornell Trail. Officers tried to contact the residents with negative results. At around 6:24 p.m., officers were able to enter the home.

Cop Caught Shoplifting 4 Different Times At Supermarket In Hillsborough: Police

A North Plainfield Police Sergeant was caught shoplifting from a grocery store in Hillsborough, police said.

David Canica was charged with four counts of shoplifting, a disorderly persons offense. Canica serves with the North Plainfield Police and was promoted to Sergeant in August 2024.

Married Couple Beaten To Death In Hillsborough

A married couple was identified as the victims of a double homicide in Hillsborough on Sept. 25, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said Friday.

The victims were identified as David Lin, 69, and Jean Lin, 69, husband and wife, said McDonald.

Hillsborough Man, Teacher Shared Child Porn On Social Media Platform: Prosecutor

A Hillsborough man and Clark Middle School teacher was arrested on Tuesday for having and sharing child sexual abuse material.

Authorities said Matthew Serwedes, 48, of Hillsborough, is currently employed as a teacher at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark.

Massage Therapist Accused Of Sexual Assault Of Woman Has License Suspended In Somerset Co.

A Somerset County massage therapist had his license temporarily suspended on Monday after being charged with criminal sexual assault against a client, said Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Division of Consumer Affairs.

David Bittner, who practiced massage therapy in Hillsborough Township, agreed to the temporary suspension of his massage therapy license by the New Jersey Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy pending the outcome of the criminal case and further action by the Board.
