Police: Journals Detail Sexual Obsession Woman Had With Union County Boy

An inappropriate relationship that developed between a 44-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy spiraled into an alleged sexual obsession.

An inappropriate two-year relationship that police say developed between a 44-year-old Michigan woman and an 11-year-old Union County boy spiraled into an alleged sexual obsession which was described by the woman in multiple journals obtained by authorities.

Although the woman was arrested in April of this year, details of the investigation were recently been made public by Michigan Live.

Jessica Carlton, of Grand Rapids, Mich., allegedly met the boy through her son’s Xbox Live gaming account in May of 2013, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office’s said. Over the next two years, the relationship became sexually explicit as Carlton exchanged naked photos, had nude video chat sessions, and wrote about sexual fantasies which involved the young teen, according to a search warrant affidavit obtained by Michigan Live.

Carlton kept two journals dedicated to the victim – one which described sexual fantasies about him and the other in which she wrote “I love you” every night as a tribute to him, Michigan Live reported.

She also kept a collage of photos of the boy, which included photos of him as an infant that she found via social media sites, according to Michigan Live’s report.

Other disturbing accusations in Michigan Live’s report include Carlton carving the boy’s initials into her wrist, providing the boy with a debit card and other various gifts, and visiting the boy with his girlfriend at a park in his hometown.

In March of 2015, the victim’s mother gave investigators permission to have the boy contact Carlton through Xbox, according to nj.com. It was at that time Carlton acknowledged the journals, video chats, photo exchanges and collage as she spoke to the boy, nj.com said, citing the affidavit.

Carlton faces two counts of second-degree attempting to lure or entice a child and 12 counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office announced in April.

Carlton was extradited to New Jersey after her arrest in Michigan, charged and sent to Union County Jail. Her bail is set at $225,000 and she has been ordered to not have any contact with the victim, according to Fox 17 Online.

According to court files, Carlton is represented by Jeffrey D. Marshall. Attempts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful.
