Preschool Kids Dive Into Summer Reading At Hillsborough Library Branch
A special story time and plenty of activities in Hillsborough kicked off for the Somerset County Library's Summer Reading Challenge.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Preschool children and their parents celebrated summer and kicked off Somerset County libraries' Summer Reading Challenge at the Hillsborough branch recently, the library said.
Author Lisa Mantchev read her book "Someday, Narwhal" during the the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey's (SCLSNJ) preschool summer literacy celebration. More than 25 children were there with their guardians, the library said.
The Summer Reading Challenge runs June 13 through August 20. It's for babies, children, and teens up to 18 years old.

The children also visited seven arts and adventure stations, which included sand art, decorating a sea creature headband, painting a seashell, walking the plank, fish bowling, feeding the shark, and catching a fish.

"Reading over the summer can help children maintain their skills," said Jessica Fazekas, youth services department supervisor."Library programs generate interest in books and literacy. By engaging with our community throughout the duration of our Summer Reading Challenge, we are fostering a lifelong love of libraries."
