Return to the Days of King Edward VII at Library Presentation

The period between the death of England's Queen Victoria and the death of King Edward VII has been viewed as the period of the English County House, where life was idyllic for the upper classes. Although it's not entirely true, according to many historians, the image remains, and the popular "Downton Abby" TV series has furthered the period in the minds of viewers.

But you can learn more about life at an Edwardian Manor during a presentation by historian Judith Krall-Russo, set for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the library.

Krall-Russo, who has become a familiar presenter at the library with her presentations on food an tea, will discuss the fascinating time and the people who lived in it. 

Though you don't have to be a “Downton Abbey” fan to enjoy this program, devoted fans may take more notice of certain details in the show after attending.  Light refreshments will be served.

Note: The Hillsborough Public Library will open at NOON on Thursday, Dec. 5!

Are you in Grades 5-8 and need help with your homework? Check out the Hillsborough Library HOMEWORK HELP CENTER! You can meet with a teen volunteer for help on a variety of subjects!  HHC is available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is preferred. Creature Comfort Pets – Grades K-2 – Dec. 4 at 4 p.m.
This is a Creature Comfort Pet Therapy Program! Children will read out loud to a 'Creature Comfort' pet! Each child will get 10 minutes of reading time while a rabbit or dog listens! Online registration is NOT available for this program – call or stop by the Children’s Desk. Please arrive early – if you are late for your time slot you will lose your spot!
Lego Buddies – Grades 8-12 – Dec. 5 at 3:45 p.m.
We are looking for reliable teen volunteers to provide assistance during our Lego Club programs. Must have great social skills and previous experience with children. Volunteers will earn community service hours for their attendance. Space is limited to 4 volunteers per session!
