'Road Diet' On Amwell Road Begins This Week In Hillsborough

Somerset County will be reducing the number of lanes on Amwell Road (County Route 514) from four to two in Hillsborough.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Somerset County's "road diet" project on Amwell Road will begin on Wednesday.

Beginning on Wednesday and going until Friday, Amwell Road will be closed between River Road and East Mountain Road from 8 a.m. until around 5 p.m.

"It's anticipated that the work will take three nights to finish. If the inclement weather prevents construction today, the project is expected to be completed by Thursday, December 4," said Hillsborough Township, New Jersey on Tuesday.

Drivers are asked to follow the detours, which will be set up in the area.

In an effort to improve safety, Somerset County will be reducing the number of lanes on Amwell Road (County Route 514) from four to two in Hillsborough.

The County will be repaving Amwell Road between Route 206 and Beekman Lane.
