Several Cats Killed After Car Crash Sparks House Fire In Hillsborough: Cops

The crash had caught fire, and the flames had spread to the home on Saturday night, said police.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Several cats were killed after a car crash sparked a house fire in Hillsborough on Saturday night.

At around 11:01 p.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in the area of 256 Amwell Road.

Officers found that the vehicle involved in the crash had caught fire, and the flames had spread to 256 Amwell Road, said Hillsborough Police Lt. Christopher M. Engelhardt.

The occupants of the home were safely evacuated without injury.

As a result of the fire, several cats were found dead inside the home. The driver of the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, said Engelhardt.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Police Department in coordination with the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety.
