Somerset Man Killed In Crash With Dump Truck In Middlesex County

An Acura TSX, a dump truck, and a Hyundai Genesis were involved in the crash on Friday, said police.

PLAINSBORO, NJ — A Somerset man was killed following a crash with a dump truck in Middlesex County on Friday.

On Friday at around 1:04 a.m., Plainsboro Police responded to a crash near the intersection of Route 1 South and College Road.

Authorities found an Acura TSX, a dump truck, and a Hyundai Genesis that were involved in the crash, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Plainsboro Police Chief Eamon Blanchard.

An initial investigation led by Plainsboro Officer Richard Wolak and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Detective James Barnes determined that the Acura TSX crashed into the back of the dump truck, causing it to be propelled into the left lane, said authorities.

As a result, the dump truck was hit by the Hyundai Genesis.

The driver of the Acura TSX, Johnathan Martinez, 20, of Somerset, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Ciccone.

The passenger of the Acura TSX sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton, where he remains in critical condition.

The drivers of the Hyundai Genesis and the dump truck are in stable condition and sustained minor injuries.
