Special Weather Statement Issued For Somerset County

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for areas in Central and Northern New Jersey, including Somerset County.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for areas in Central and Northern New Jersey, including Somerset County.

They say at 3:14 p.m. a string of severe thunderstorms was moving East at 20 MPH. Within the strongest storms, wind gusts up to 40 MPH and “pea sized” hail are possible.

“Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms...and may cause localized flooding, according to The National Weather Service. “Rainfall amounts up to one inches within an hour are possible with the strongest storms. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.”
