Storm Topples Trees, Hillsborough Opens Debris Facility For Residents

Portions of the Township are still cleaning up following a severe thunderstorm with high winds on Saturday.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Township Public Works Department is opening the Auten Road Debris Facility to allow residents to drop off tree debris from the severe thunderstorm on Saturday.

The facility will be open from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Only tree debris will be accepted. Proof of residency if required.

The area of Zion Road, Long Hill Road and Montgomery Road suffered the most significant impacts on the west side of town, according to Flagtown Fire/Rescue - Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. #1.

Volunteer firefighters, along with Neshanic Fire Company responded to several incidents in the area.

"Crews assessed the area and logged all obvious structures damaged and wires down and reported all findings to the Township's Emergency Operations Center. Simultaneously, across town, crews from Fire Co. 2 and 3 responded to a number of similar instances. Fire Co 2’s brush unit was called to assist on Zion Rd," said Flagtown Fire Company.

In total, 22 separate issues/incidents were logged in the Zion area.
