Township Job Position Open In Hillsborough

OPEN POSITION:

Multi-licensed Inspector to perform the duties of a New Jersey certified inspector as directed by the Construction Official, does related work as required by the Construction Official.

SALARY/UNION POSITION:

Per union contract.

HOURS OF WORK:

8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.

Forty (40) Hours per week

TYPICAL TASKS:

This Multi-licensed Inspector shall enforce the regulations and carry out field inspection, checking the approved construction plans and specifications against the actual construction at the site location.

Keep records of all inspections and making detailed reports of any inspections that are not approved. Checking approved construction plans and actual construction for code compliance. Inspection responsibilities include Uniform Construction Code, the Barrier Free Code, the Radon Hazard Code, the Indoor Air Quality Code, underground storage tanks and the Asbestos Code. Maintain levels of expertise by keeping current with the ever changing and evolving codes, regulations and specifications. Assist the construction official and the building subcode official in the preparation of all reports required in the regulations. Attends meetings and hearings as required by the regulations. Maintain all inspection equipment and township property such as vehicles, test equipment and inspection tools. Carry out such other functions as are necessary and appropriate to the position of building inspector.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

This position requires a minimum formal education of High School diploma and Job-Related and minimum of 3 years but less than 5 years job-related experience.

Experience Desired (not required) criteria include: minimum ICS (Industrial Commercial Specialist) License in at least two Sub-code disciplines.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of two of the following: RCS (Residential Commercial Specialist) Building Inspectors License, ICS (Industrial Commercial Specialist) in the Fire, Electrical and Plumbing Sub-code disciplines.

Possession of a valid appropriate driver’s license issued by the State of New Jersey.
