Vultures Test Positive With Bird Flu In Hillsborough
The Hillsborough Health Department sent out a warning to residents on Monday.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Several vultures have tested positive for avian influenza (avian flu), announced the Hillsborough Health Department on Monday.
The department was notified by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Fish and Wildlife Division that several vultures found in a ravine in the area of Wildflower Lane have tested positive.

- Avoid contact with wild birds, whether sick, injured, or deceased
- Keep pets away from wild birds and areas where birds congregate
- Report any unusual die-off of birds to the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife at 1-877-WARNDEP (1-877-927-6337)
"At this time, the risk to the general public is considered low; however, precautions should be taken to prevent exposure," said the health department.
