Cars Stolen, Burglarized On Christmas In Sparta: Police

Police say Christmas presents were stolen.

SPARTA, NJ — Several cars were burglarized and one was stolen overnight on Christmas Eve into Christmas, Sparta police said.

A silver Lexus G37x, worth $9,000, was stolen from a Woodlawn Road home overnight. Police say the car had the key fob inside of it.

Four other cars were burglarized and had items stolen, including cash, prescription bottles, Christmas presents and other items. The burglarized cars were near Fox Hollow Road, Morgan Drive and Lakeside Drive. Police say two of those cars had keys in the ignition.

Police say they aren't sure if the theft and the burglaries are related, but said all the cars were unlocked.

"We are, again asking that everyone take their keys into their house, lock their vehicles and report any strange or suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. These thefts do not appear to fit the modus operandi of past high end motor vehicles stolen by the crews out of Newark," police said.
