Fire Destroys Home, Cat Still Missing In Sparta: Police

The family got out of the home safely but one family cat is still missing and feared dead, police said.

SPARTA, NJ — A Sparta family is uninjured after a fire destroyed their home early Wednesday morning, police said.

Police say they were called to the Old Prospect Road home around 5:45 a.m. The family— a mother, two young sons, and a grandmother— were already safely out of the home with their dog and one cat when firefighters arrived, police said. The father was already at work before the fire broke out.

A second family cat remains missing and is feared dead, police sad. No one was injured, and no one needed medical treatment on scene, police said, but everything in the home was lost.
