Guitar Master Leo Kottke Makes Music in Newton
Multilayered acoustic guitar specialist is known for his rhythmic approach to melody.

Innovative acoustic guitar virtuoso Leo Kottke is known for a fingerpicking style that draws on influences from blues, jazz and folk music. He overcame a series of personal obstacles, including partial loss of hearing and a nearly career-ending bout with tendon damage in his right hand to emerge as a widely-recognized master of his instrument.
Kottke has been awarded two Grammy nominations; a Doctorate in Music Performance by the Peck School of Music at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; and a Certificate of Significant Achievement in Not Playing the Trombone from the University of Texas at Brownsville with Texas Southmost College.
The singular fretman brings his sonic vision to the area when he performs at The Newton Theatre Sunday night. Tickets range from $29-$39 and may be purchased online.
