Overdosing Hopatcong Man Saved By Police

Police say the man was suffering from a heroin overdose.

MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ — An overdoing Hopatcong man was saved by police at a Mendham Borough gas station Sunday afternoon, police said.

The man, a 30-year-old, became unresponsive at the Mendham Exxon around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, police said. A woman was performing CPR on him near the gas pumps, police said, but they determined that the man has overdosed on heroin.

Police gave the man Narcan, a drug that can stop and reverse the effects of an overdose, and the man regained consciousness. He was taken to Morristown Medical Center by the Mendham Borough First Aid Squad for further treatment.
