Hopatcong Borough Police are investigating the reported Oct. 4 theft of a saw manufactured for commercial use from outside a residence on Indian Trail, according to a department statement.
Lt. Thomas Kmetz said that at about 3 p.m. that day, a man working with a Stihl TS 420-14 Cutquik saw left the tool by the side of the road as he went to help a truck down the driveway. The man told police that he noticed a maroon Dodge pickup truck by the road.
Upon his return, the man noticed the saw was gone, along with a blade for cutting concrete and another for blacktop, Kmetz said. The distributor-suggested retail price for that model of Stihl saw is $1,059.65, according to the manufacturer's website.
