Run with the Zombies at Hopatcong High
HHS PTSO and Project Graduation want you to come and get your zombie on.

Forget the Monster Mash: Hopatcong High School's PTSO presents its Project Graduation 2014 Zombie Run Sunday at the school, 2A Windsor Road.
The run is actually not about undead persons perambulating mindlessly, it's a 5K run that benefits the HHS Class of 2014's Project Graduation and the PTSO.
Registration for the race begins Sunday at 10 a.m. at the HHS football field and track. The race steps off at noon.
The price to participate is $10 for the 5k Zombie Chase Race. For the Kiddie Obstacle Course Fun Run, admission is $5, and kids under three enjoy free admission.
Now, surely you caught the "chase" reference. Undead, in fact, will be involved—hence the event title—but rather than perambulating mindlessly, they have a serious purpose: eating runners' brains. (What did you expect? They are zombies.)
The fun twist is that participants get to choose whether they wish to be a runner or a zombie.
- Runners are equipped with a flag football style belt and sent off to run 5K. Throughout the course there are “Zombie Zones” where you will have to avoid zombies that want to eat your brains (remove your flags). Your goal is to cross the finish line alive (with your belts still intact). The course is primarily off-road through rustic trails. (Under-18 runners must have their parents sign a waiver in order to be allowed to participate.)
- Zombies are assigned a “Zombie Zone.” As runners come through your zone, you attempt to eat their brains (aka remove flags from around their waists). All zombies are expected to dress as zombies. You can come ready to go or visit an on-site zombie makeup booth to be transformed for only $5.
Also offered is the Kiddie Race: For youngsters 11 and below, there is an obstacle course fun race on the high school track. Kids should feel free to come dressed in their Halloween costumes.
Awards will be given in men's and women's divisions for those to finish the run "alive," to the zombie who eats the most brains and to the best-looking zombies.
The event will also feature a Zombie Dunk Tank, a Zombie Pie Toss, the Zombie Attack game and a Zombie Fun Shop.
