Sparta Named One Of NJs Safest Towns

Sparta had some of the lowest crime rates in the entire state, according to a new SafeWise study.

SPARTA, NJ — Sparta was named one of New Jersey's safest towns in a new analysis of crime data complied by SafeWise.

The town came in as the 10th safest town, out of the 50 towns across the state SafeWise looked at. According to the study, Sparta saw just .10 violent crimes and 4.1 property crimes per 1,000 people. Most of the crime in the town, nearly 98 percent, was property crime.

Most of the safest cities identified by the company were in North Jersey. Sixty-two percent were in the northern part of the state. 30 percent were in central, and the remaining eight percent were in southern. The company did not say how it divided up the state.
