Sparta Showdown For Township Council Set

There are four candidates for two open seats on the governing body.

SPARTA, NJ - This year's Nov. 3 election will feature a contested race for the governing body that includes some familiar faces.

According to Sparta Township Clerk Kate Chambers four residents filed for a seat on the Sparta Township Council by the Aug. 31 deadline.

Dean Blumetti and Bill Greenlaw turned in their petitions and Sussex County Freeholder Joshua Hertzberg and current Sparta Deputy Mayor Christine Quinn also turned in petitions.

Chambers certified them all.

Sparta's governing body is nonpartisan, each candidate for office is eligible based on her or his own merits rather than as a member of a political party. No political affiliation, if one exists, is shown on the ballot next to a candidate.
