400 Stops, 120 Tickets Issued As Howell Cracks Down On Drivers
Howell police, in response to a Township Council resolution, have been conducting targeted enforcement to quell speeding and other issues.
HOWELL, NJ — More than 120 traffic tickets have been issued in Howell and more than 400 drivers have been pulled over as part of targeted traffic enforcement over the last two weeks in the township, police said.
The targeted enforcement areas were established by the Howell Township Council recently following complaints from residents, police said.
The first week of the enforcement focused on Salem Hill Road, Arnold Boulevard, Newtons Corner Road and Aldrich Road, and Patrol Officer Courtney Casterlin and Patrol Officer John Curtin made more than 100 stops, issued 60 tickets and gave gave 58 written and verbal warnings, police said.

The second week focused on the previous roads and added Fort Plains Road, Starlight Road, Alexander Avenue and Maxim Southard Road. The patrol division assisted the officers assigned to the targeted enforcement and more than 300 drivers were pulled over from March 10 through March 14, police said.
In the targeted areas during that second week, there were more than 100 stops, with 67 tickets and 60 warnings, police said.

"We will continue to address these areas and add more areas as we receive feedback from our residents," police said.
