Howell Police Hit-And-Run Vehicle Located, Department Says

A vehicle that allegedly fled the scene after striking two patrol cars Saturday morning has been found, police said.

HOWELL, NJ - A suspect vehicle has been located following an investigation into a report of two Howell Township patrol vehicles struck by a driver during a motor vehicle stop, authorities said.

The incident, which took place just before 3 a.m. on Saturday morning, happened in the area of Aldrich Road West and Aldrich Drive, Howell police said in a statement.

While patrolmen Natase and Galano were speaking with the driver of the stopped vehicle, both of their patrol vehicles were struck by a passing driver, police said. Both officers avoided being struck.

The officers “used extremely sound tactics and positioning of their vehicles while keeping their awareness level high, or this incident could have resulted in a far worse outcome,” police said.

The hit-and-run driver fled the scene of the crash and continued West into Jackson Township; both patrol vehicles were disabled from the collision were not able to follow the vehicle, police said.
