The competition began with 800 pizzerias across the state which were cut down to four by region. At the top at Jersey Shore are also Zonis, Maruca's and Galley.
"I'm just thankful that I'm competing with these great businesses," restaurant owner Anthony Anzivino told Patch after being selected for the top eight. "It's a big accomplishment. Some of those guys have been around 20 years, 30 years. I've only been around for five."

As to why Capricci was chosen as one of the top pizzerias in the area by popular vote, Anzivino said the quality of the food was the driving factor.
"We don't use anything cheap," he said. "I think just the combination of good quality and good customer service is driving people to return."
Some of the most popular dishes include the pizza San Marzano, the penne alla vodka and the chicken francese.
