HOWELL, NJ — Mason Dalessandro was raised in Howell and now he'll be operating his own Jersey Mike's Subs in town.
“Opening a Jersey Mike’s Subs in the town where I grew up has been a dream of mine, and I can’t wait to connect with the community,” Dalessandro says.

And it's a great deal for those with a yen for a sub:
Customers who receive a special fundraising coupon - distributed through a grassroots effort before the opening - can make a minimum $2 contribution to Howell High School in exchange for a regular sub. Customers must have a coupon to be eligible.
“We are very excited to partner with Howell High School during our grand opening,” said Dalessandro.
Chase Franks, the operations director for 19 stores in a wider area, who himself just bought a house in Howell, was reached at the new location on Thursday, as he was putting finishing touches on the restaurant.
He explained that Howell High School will be the "charity partner" for this Jersey Mike's going forward - "for the band, for the sports teams" and more, Franks said.
Apart from the grand opening donation, he said there will be fundraising through the restaurant for years to come.
He said team members will begin distributing the coupons Monday and Tuesday at allowable business areas such as a stores or parking lots. Those who would like a coupon can even come to the store on "friends and family" nights Monday and Tuesday, when the store has a bit of a dress rehearsal for its formal opening.
Jersey Mike’s has a tradition of backing causes in the community, he noted.
Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised more than $110 million for local charities. In 2023, the company’s 13th annual Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving in March raised $21 million for more than 200 local charities, the company says.
The restaurant’s hours at this new location are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this location directly at 732-751-4095.
Customers can place orders in-store or for pickup through the website or through the Jersey Mike’s app. Additionally, delivery is available in most areas through the Jersey Mike’s app or through third-party delivery partners. Curbside pickup is available for orders placed in the Jersey Mike’s app.
And Jersey Mike's is always looking to hire, the company says. Candidates can apply at joinourteam@jmgives.com.
Jersey Mike’s Subs has more than 2,500 locations nationwide, and it all started with a store in Point Pleasant in 1956. Because of its location at the Jersey Shore, its popularity spread.
And in the Seventies, Peter Cancro, then a 17-year-old high school senior who had worked for Mike’s Subs since he was 14 and loved the business, bought the operation with the help of his football coach who was also a banker, the company history says. In 1987, Cancro started his franchises and the successful company is still locally based, in Manasquan.
