2-Alarm Fire Ravages Home In Jersey City Heights
A 2-alarm fire destroyed the top floor of a home in Jersey City Heights Sunday night.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A two-alarm fire destroyed the top floor of a Jersey City Heights home on Sunday night, according to official sources.
Councilman Yousef Saleh wrote in a social media post just before 10 p.m. that the residents of 148 Sherman Ave. had escaped the home safely, and "even the house cat was saved" by the Fire Department.

Firefighters were heard on the scanner around 10 p.m. saying the Red Cross was on the scene to assist displaced residents.

Saleh wrote, "Minimal damage to one of the adjacent properties and the best possible outcome from a horrible situation."
The home was built in 1902, online records indicate.
