97-Year-Old Man Critical After Downtown Jersey City Fire: Prosecutors
A 97-year-old man was taken to the burn unit of a hospital after a downtown Jersey City fire, prosecutors said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Prosecutors are investigating a fire that started in the Jersey City apartment of a 97-year-old man on Thursday, they said.
Firefighters arrived at the basement apartment of a York Street building around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office. They found an injured 97-year-old man who lived there.
Emergency Medical Services took the man to Jersey City Medical Center with serious bodily injuries and in critical condition, prosecutors said.

He was later transferred to the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Burn Unit in Livingston, where he remains in stable condition, prosecutors said Friday afternoon.
The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is investigating the origin and cause of the fire with assistance from the Jersey City Fire Department, but prosecutors said foul play is not suspected at this time.
