Arrest Made Following Friday Homicide In Jersey City

Raymond Chandler, 45, of Jersey City was charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of 46-year-old Haldy Thermitus in Jersey City on Friday.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — An arrest has been made in one of the two fatal incidents that happened this weekend in Jersey City.

Raymond Chandler, 45, of Jersey City was arrested and charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of 46-year-old Haldy Thermitus in Jersey City on Friday.

On Friday, police were called to a vacanr lot near Oxford and West Side avenues around 4 p.m. for a report of an injured man. The man was pronounced dead at the scene around 6 p.m. The victim was identified as Thermitus and the cause of death was deemed a homicide.

Chandler is facing the following charges:

  • Murder
  • Possession of a Weapon (knife) for an Unlawful Purpose
  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (knife)
  • Hindering
  • Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (cocaine)
