Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Car In Jersey City: Prosecutor (patch.com) — A 61-year-old Jersey City resident has died after being struck by a car near Communipaw and Mallory avenues, days after he was taken to Jersey City Medical Center in critical condition. The driver stayed at the scene, and the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and Jersey City police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

Jersey City Charter Schools Awarded Phone-Free Schools Grants (tapinto.net) — Three Jersey City charter schools just secured state grants to roll out strict phone-free policies for grades 6–12, including secure device storage and staff training. Empowerment Academy, Golden Door, and Jersey City Global Charter School will share over $8,000 to reduce classroom distractions and support a more focused learning environment starting with the FY 2026 funding.

Parents, Staff Complain of Icy Sidewalks and No Heat After Year's First Snowstorm (jcitytimes.com) — Jersey City Public Schools families say students walked on icy sidewalks and entered unheated buildings after this week’s 3.5‑inch snowstorm, raising safety concerns at more than a dozen campuses. Parents, staff, and photos shared with the Jersey City Times describe treacherous entrances at schools like P.S. 28, Snyder High, and several middle schools, though the superintendent disputes claims of inadequate staffing and supplies.
   

4. Jersey City man busted for explicit messages to juvenile (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Jersey City man has been arrested after investigators linked him to explicit online communications with a juvenile on a social media app, according to Hudson County prosecutors. Authorities say he faces child endangerment and lewdness charges and is being held at the county jail, with officials stressing that all charges remain accusations at this stage.
   

5. Sacco: Craig Guy ‘must be held accountable for the clear mismanagement' at HCST (hudsoncountyview.com) — Hudson County Schools of Technology’s $11 million deficit could affect Jersey City directly, with plans to relocate an adult high school program from Harrison here and build a new technology school facility in the city. North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco is urging state investigations into alleged mismanagement under County Executive Craig Guy, while county officials outline cost-cutting moves and seek $11 million in state aid.
