Conviction Of NJ Man In Facebook-Related Shooting Overturned: Report

A murder conviction in the shooting death of a Jersey City man was overturned by an appeals court, a report said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A murder conviction has been overturned for a man accused of shooting a Jersey City man to death over a Facebook video, NJ.com reported Thursday.

Darius Bolden, 39, of Jersey City was serving a 45-year sentence in the killing of Jason Dunbar on Fulton Avenue in August, 2019, the report said. Prosecutors claimed the shooting was in retaliation for an embarrassing Facebook video of Dunbar pushing Bolden during a fight, the story said.

A state appeals court said the trial included unauthenticated video evidence, police interrogation footage , and improper remarks from the prosecutor, the report said. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing whether to conduct a new trial, NJ.com said. Read more here.
