JERSEY CITY, NJ — Several council members and even a former New Jersey governor have announced they will run for mayor of Jersey City. The filing deadline is this Thursday afternoon.

Gov. Jim McGreevey is running for the top spot, as are County Commissioner Bill O'Dea, council members James Solomon and Joyce Watterman, and former school board president Mussab Ali.

Current Mayor Steve Fulop said he was leaving this year after three terms, and recently an unsuccessful bid to get the Democratic nomination for governor.
