Downtown Jersey City Dessert Shop Closes Due To 'Rising Rents'
The quirky Jersey City dessert shop bade farewell this past week.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — One of Jersey City's quirky dessert shops said farewell this past weekend, citing rising rents and the economy. A number of restaurants in the area have cited the post-covid economy in recent years.
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closing of Milk & Cream Bar - Jersey City. This weekend will be our last days of operation," the shop announced just before last weekend. "The tough economy and rising rents have led us to make this difficult decision."
Milk and Cream offered ice cream with cereal toppings. It was located on Newark Avenue in downtown Jersey City.

"We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for all the wonderful memories we’ve created together," they wrote.
The shop also faced increasing competition from a slew of other dessert stores nearby, including Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, which opened around the corner in August.
