Street Safety Meeting To Be Held In Jersey City Thursday

A neighborhood association in Jersey City will hold a street safety meeting on Thursday.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A street safety meeting will be held in Jersey City's historic Von Vorst neighborhood on Wednesday.

Residents of downtown Jersey City have been calling for more traffic calming measures ever since a young boy was struck and killed by a delivery truck near Hamilton Park in June. READ MORE: Boy, 6, Dies After Being Struck On Bicycle.

Organizers wrote, "Has yelling at cars who run stop signs become a part of your daily life? Are you anxious crossing streets? Seeing too many bikes on the sidewalk? Let's organize as a community and demand better! Join VVNA."

They said advocates and experts from groups including Bike JC, Hudson County Complete Streets, and Safe Streets Jersey City will attend the meeting.

"Talk with your neighbors and get your questions answered," they said.

The meeting takes place Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Priscilla Gardner Main Library, 472 Jersey Ave.
