Why are you seeking elective office?
I want to represent my hometown and but apart of the problem solving measures to keep it the place I love.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
workforce development, I hope to build pathways for our youth and adults to pre-apprenticeships and mentoring programs that are inclusive and encourage more small economic growth.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
They point out the problems Jersey City has faced for years as if they know solutions no one has ever tried. They have no platforms that lead to action or change. I am a problem solver and will take action that leads to measurable change.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
One current member has spent more time publicly arguing with city administration than making relationships and negotiating terms for good policy.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
Youth centered programming and policy to build our future workforce and keep them as Jersey City residents.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
As JC Board of Ed. trustee, I assisted with private-public partnerships to improve special education learning spaces and supported teacher/educator driven initiatives and professional development. As my local union's VP, I oversaw grievances and negotiations learning how to maintain strong relationships and become a strong diplomat without comprising our working conditions or rights. As Chair of the Hudson County Democrats, I have worked to build our power locally and in Trenton as well as maintained diplomatic relationships between individuals and groups that are at times at odds.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
Be direct, transparent, kind, and honest; people will respect you even when they disagree.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
My intentions are pure. I want to do right by my hometown and teach others how to mentor their community to improve quality of life for all.
