Jersey City Man Charged With Attempted Murder: Prosecutor
Darnell Reeves, 35, was arrested in connection with a shooting in Passaic Aug. 23, authorities said.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man was charged with attempted murder in connection with an Aug. 23 shooting in Passaic, authorities said.
Darnell R. Reeves, 35, was also charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to have weapons, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes.
A 34-year-old man from Paterson was shot in Passaic Aug. 23, Valdes said. Police responded to the area of Wall Street and found the man, who received a nonfatal gunshot wound, she said. The victim was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson for treatment. A 30-year-old Paterson man was shot at, but not injured, Valdes said.

Authorities investigated and the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Task Force arrested Reeves Thursday in Kenilworth, Valdes said.
Another man, Albert Robinson, 32, of Irvington, was also charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting, Valdes said.

Reeves faces 1o to 20 years in State Prison if he is found guilty of the attempted murder charge, and must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before being eligible for parole, and five years of parole supervision, Valdes said.
The state has filed a motion for pretrial detention for Robinson and Reeves, which will be heard by a Superior Court judge.
